Assignment Nine

A few of my friends form anime club and I went to the anime convention, Acen. When we came close to the entrance, people in wild, vivid costume were everywhere. I looked around try to spot some characters that I may know. Then we saw a guy in a weird furry costume that was holding a free hugs sign. So we all got free hugs. Then we finally entered the building. There was a ton of people everywhere, but it still wasn’t that crowded, but you could never really hear anything. There was a ton of people chatting, random music playing and people just shouting random stuff. We get our name tags and enter more into the building. Now there was hardly any room to stand, and where ever you walked you had to squeeze past people. But we were able to do a lot of things, like take pictures of the randomly dressed people, get rick rolled, and chase a giant box of pokey.

I used detail to explain the costumes people were wearing, how the crowds were in the building, what I heard in the building, and what we did. I think the details add a fun and crazy type of mood by explaining how everyone looked, what my surrounding was like, and what the convention was like. I used words like vivid and weird to tell how the mood was during the convention and I tell how nothing can really be heard by telling how there was so much noise. The guy with the free hugs sign was just one of the weird things we saw but it was pretty weird and crazy, but still very fun. The crowds at first were very dispersed but as we got further in they got more crowded, and I mention how you had to travel to get anywhere. Even though the convention was very chaotic, I tell that we were still able to do some things and still have a good time. No dialogue was included in this piece. I think this piece tells that I actually am a fun loving person, who does crazy things sometimes. I usually am quiet and don’t do much, but really I do a lot and have a lot to say. The convention was a crazy event and I was pretty crazy along with it. Most people think I only shy and timid, but I not as shy and timid as they think, they just haven’t really gotten to know me.

Assignment 8

When I was younger I got to go horseback riding. Horses were beautiful and majestic creatures to me. Riding one was one of my wishes. We came to the very muddy grounded ranch, with the strong stench of manure and dried out old shaggy buildings. But I didn’t mind, it just meant that we were getting closer to the horses. We went into one of the old, dusty buildings, and waited while my father registered us. I looked around hoping to spot a horse but not one was around. I listened carefully to see if I could at least hear one but still, nothing but the sounds of random people chatting away. Finally we left the ranch house and headed to the stables. I then saw them. The tall creature that stood huddled next to each other. Happiness ran over my face, as it was the first time I had seen then in real life. One of the helper brought a brown horse up to us. She told my sister to hop up, and then helped her up. Next another man came up with a light colored horse that was shorter than the other one and helped my mom get on it. She had a look of uneasiness on her face but soon it went away. Next came a short little tubby horse that was for my brother, he was much smaller than me at this time. Then a man came in from outside that brought in a huge horse. I mean it was gigantic. Biggest horse that I had ever seen. It was for my dad, who was also incredibly huge. He was helped onto the massive creature. I stood there in the soggy ground, the last one with no horse. I looked up at everyone, partly blinded by the sun that shined through an opened barn door. I felt small and left out, but then the most beautiful all black horse was brought out, black hide shimmering in the sunlight and long black mane hovering at the side of his head. I was ecstatic, it was exactly the horse that I had been looking for. The helper told me his name was Toga. I thought it was the perfect name for him. She helped me get up on the horse. When I got up there it was a bit shaky but soon it was steady. We then followed the guide out of the stable and headed to a trail surround by a thick forest, that was full of tall trees and grass and wild flowers that were pretty but unknown to me. As we walked along the clear trail I patted Toga and stroked his hair. I was seriously in love with this horse. When we got a chance to make the horse run faster, I was eager to try. While others complained how uncomfortable it would hurt from all the bouncing, I used my back knowledge of studying horses and horseback riding to remember that lifting myself slightly higher on the horse would create less bounce. When Toga ran it was the smoothest, beautiful, run ever. I listened to the pounding of his hooves as they rhythmically hit the ground, and felt the strong, clear wind it my face. When we stopped, I rubbed Toga’s neck and thought you are forever going to be my most favorite horse ever.
